Daniel Andrews and Tim Richardson are ignoring calls from the local community by drastically narrowing Beach Road, which will make the road more dangerous for motorists and cyclists as well as hurting small businesses and local sporting clubs due to reduced car parking.
The Andrews Labor Government is siding with the Kingston Council’s proposed $3.2m plan to narrow Beach Road between Mentone and Mordialloc, effectively reducing the road to a single lane and creating a traffic hazard.
Unlike Daniel Andrews and Tim Richardson, the Liberal Nationals will listen to local residents and support their opposition to the narrowing of the road.
Tim Richardson has clearly taken his eye off the ball on local issues and has been distracted by the investigation into his involvement in the controversial “Labor Red Shirts rorts”.
Tim Richardson’s campaign was recently found to have rorted $5,354 of taxpayers’ money by the Victorian Ombudsman.
Comments attributable to Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy:
“Brad Rowswell has been working hard, is listening to the local community and is raising their concerns directly with me and my team.
“Brad is fighting to maintain the liveability and amenity of his local community and that’s why we are backing his policy to keep Beach Road safe.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Sandringham, Brad Rowswell:
“Local residents have been very clear: they do not want Beach Road narrowed. Along with Matthew Guy, I support safety for all the community – for residents, motorists and cyclists.
“There is now a clear choice: A vote for Daniel Andrews is a vote to narrow Beach Road. A vote for Matthew Guy is a vote to maintain safety and foreshore access for all our community.”
