The Sandringham electorate is home to more than 41,000 people. It is a metropolitan electorate approximately 15 kilometres south-east of Melbourne and is part of the Southern Metropolitan Region.
Situated along the coastline of Port Phillip Bay, the Sandringham electorate covers 24 square kilometres, including the suburbs of Beaumaris, Black Rock, Sandringham and Highett. It also includes parts of Cheltenham, Mentone and Hampton.
The electorate is mainly located within the Bayside City Council; however, also represents a portion of the Kingston City Council area.
With a diverse range of vocational backgrounds, the community has widespread involvement in recreation, sporting, service and church organisations. The electorate is also the home for several golf courses many of which are considered world class. There are many thriving businesses in the area ranging from retail to manufacturers with global markets.
